Is my home a candidate for solar?
We will need to look at your home to see if you have suitable space for solar modules with a proper orientation. We can do this on site or via satellite photo if you will provide the address. Call 866-663-6570 for a free site evaluation.

How much will it save me on my electric bills?
How much you save is a function of how much electricity you use and how big of a solar system you install. Explanation: When you buy electricity from your utility company you pay by the Kilo Watt Hour “kWh”. If you have tiered rates (California Utilities, e.g. SCE, PG&E & SDG&E) the more electricity you use, the more you pay per kWh. If you use a lot of electricity you can pay more than $0.28 per kWh on average. If you use less electricity you could pay $0.17 per kWh on average. So let’s say you install a medium size solar system that produces 800kWh per month. If your cost of electricity is $0.28 per kWh then you will save $224.00 per month. If your cost is $0.17 per kWh then you will save $136.00 per month. So it all depends on your usage, your average cost of electricity, how big of a system you install, the orientation, tilt, shading and many other factors. With one year of electric bills and detailed information about your installation site we can prepare a detailed proposal and financial analysis.

Can I sell back any energy?
Yes. The Net Metering Laws allow you to overproduce during the day and your utility purchases your excess power by spinning your meter backwards and then you purchase power at night and spin your meter forward. The credits you build up by spinning your meter backwards can be carried forward month-to-month but not year-to-year. So if you produce more during the course of a year than you use your utility will not pay you for the excess production. It is best to design your system to produce 80% to 90% of your average annual usage.

What does it cost to get it installed?
Cost varies depending on the difficulty of the installation, e.g. a two story tile roof or a tilt-up array or a ground mounted system cost more than a single story comp shingle installation. We can perform a full site analysis and generate a free proposal with full cost and financial incentives.

Is financing available?
Yes. Because solar is a home improvement you will want to use a financing vehicle that allows for the mortgage interest deduction on the interest payments, such as a home equity line, 2nd T.D. or re-finance. But other options are also available.

What does the process look like?
We analyze your usage and home, design a best solution system and present a proposal. If you accept the proposal we generate a contract, process all of the rebate paperwork, prepare plans, submit for permits and order the major components. When the permit issues we schedule the installation, deliver the equipment, install the system, call for inspection, arrange for interconnection with your utility, obtain the interconnection authorization letter and submit your claim for rebates under the California Solar Initiative. If there is a Homeowner Association we work with you to obtain HOA authorization.
